Hi!
I’m Megan with Honey Bee Photography. I photograph families on location because I believe that little kids are more comfortable that way, not to mention their parents as well!
I’ll meet you at your favorite park, your back yard, or bring my on-location studio to set up in your home.
When I applied for a position as a telemarketer in 1989 for a well known portrait studio, little did I know what I was getting into.
Because I was so outgoing, they hired me as a Portrait Consultant, and there I developed a really good eye for what made a great portrait.
Then I started working for a company that has studios all over the nation; back then there were many divisions with the same camera/lighting setup.
I worked for one division as a photographer and quickly found what I love to do, take fabulous portraits of little kids and their families. I moved to a different division and became a trainer for quite a while.
Then after living in hotels for almost a full year, I moved onto my next company, a nationally acclaimed one hour portrait studio where I learned many new techniques.
I worked with them for nearly 10 years. My style still carries over from working there, with a modern twist on posing and post-production.
About 2 years ago my husband Jim and I decided that we should have our own business and that is how Honey Bee was founded.
Being a military family, we move often; perhaps not as often as the normal military family does, but we are certainly not going to live in one place for the duration of Jim’s career.
The jumping off point was when we lived in Monterey, CA and we’ve been going since then.
I love to photograph families.
I love to see how families work together and the different personalities that emerge as I work during the portrait session itself and also post-production.
It’s most delightful to work with images and be able to create memorable collages and other works of art. Photographing families is truly my passion and I believe it shows in my work.
